Follow These Tips To Personal Development

Many people say that self-help is about finding the empowerment to go out and become a different person. To an extent, this psychological mindset is a true model; by becoming a better person you raise your self-esteem by preset goals that you plan and achieve. This behavior is reinforced by positive results and consequently sets up a person to succeed in more areas, given that they have enough talent and drive to succeed. Find out more in this book called 7 habits of highly effective people written by Stephen Covey

A great self help tip that can help you change your life is to buy a pet. Getting a cat or a dog can do wonders for you stress levels. The simple act of petting a dog can greatly reduce your stress. Having a pet is beneficial for you and for them.

When trying to stay positive through your self help process, take the time to look at your surroundings and admire everything that is great about life. For example, the sun provides the entire world (and more) with energy, you should take simple things like this to provide you with positive reinforcement.

You need to be realistic with your to-do lists. If you have things on there that you cannot do in a day, then that will hinder the rest of your progression and probably make you feel disappointed in yourself. Be realistic and add things that you know you can achieve in a day. Keep it simple to get things done.

Self-help is truly goal based. By breaking up the ultimate goal into little portions or pieces, people are able to achieve minor goals in their life and work up to the overall change. Turning into a self-made millionaire isn’t an overnight process, but the key to starting is to start. Like the pyramids, every great work takes effort, and in this case, change is best done one brick at a time.

What I Lacked in Qualifications I Learned to Make Up with Courage

Whenever I hear others telling people the formula for success, I always snicker to myself. My rise to fame was so un-formulaic, I cannot even tell you. My story starts almost 65 years ago on the South Side of Chicago, where I grew up. I (unlike what most of you probably imagine) was not born into a family of wealth. My mother was a secretary who sold Avon on the side. My father was a chicken plucker, who sold live chickens when I was young and later owned a deli.

The truth is my dad spent most of his years being ill with stays in and out of the hospital till he died in 1981 at the age of 71. He had contracted emphysema as well as third-degree burns on his arms and chest after running back into his little 400-square-foot chicken shack that was ablaze. From the car, I watched him retrieve the scalding hot metal cash register that contained all his money. That is when I first learned that my dad obviously thought money was more important than life itself… more

Why Going Green is So Important by Kristie Lorette –

by: Kristie Lorette

At one time, going green seemed like something a little out of the ordinary: the neighbor who jumped on his exercise bike every time he wanted a smoothie, or the Hollywood starlet “caught” recycling by the tabloids whenever she needed a little positive press. These days, however, being green is a full-blown movement that has become downright trendy. Trends aside, incorporating green techniques into daily life can have an important impact on the environment and your budget.

The Facts

Ultimately, going green is about small steps and simple choices each day. By recycling your aluminum cans, you can help to save energy: in fact, more than 50 million recycled cans reduced U.S. oil usage by 15 million barrels in 2009. Placing recyclable items in the recycling bin instead of throwing them away can limit landfill waste by as much as 75%. Reducing water use can ensure fresh water for the future and also add a little to your budget. A ten-minute shower uses about 40 gallons of water. By cutting the shower time in half – or even just shaving a couple of minutes off – you can limit waste.

Going green in small areas can make an impact on your budget. For example, natural cleaners such as baking soda and vinegar are as effective as standard cleaning supplies and considerably cheaper. Starting your own vegetable garden can be cost effective and enable you to eat fresh, seasonal produce. Additionally, buying in bulk is a green option, because it enables you to make fewer trips to the grocery store and to spend less in the long run.

In some cases, going green can get a little costly. Adding solar panels to your roof is expensive. Unless you live in a sunny location, the panels can take decades to pay off. But going green is not so much about incorporating all of the available green options as it is about using less and reusing when possible. Using rags instead of paper towels, turning off lights, and taking shorter showers can all add up to going green.

Expert Insight

On average, a family of four in the U.S. emits more than 20 tons of carbon dioxide annually. Taken across the U.S., this amounts to more than 20% of the world population’s carbon dioxide emissions (with only 5% of the world’s population living in the U.S.). Environmental scientists believe that carbon dioxide emissions contribute to rising global temperatures. Melting glaciers can cause the sea levels to rise and result in massive flooding. Plants and animals can become extinct if they are unable to adjust to a change in temperature. Environmentalists note that making even small changes in everyday life – the mantra of “reduce, reuse, and recycle” – can have a big impact on reducing emissions and ensuring the continuity of life.

Time Frame

For those who are new to going green, there is no rush to incorporate all of the changes at once. Instead, consider making one to two changes per week or per month, depending on your lifestyle. This might be as simple as switching to non-toxic cleaning products or as life-changing as riding a bike to work every day. Whatever you do, look at going green as a process instead of an end result.

Economic Problems Facing the Next President

3 Big, Economic Problems Facing the Next President

The American presidential primaries are a great spectator sport. But there is a big difference between campaigning and governing. And governing is much harder.

Bernie Sanders knows he could never deliver “free college.” But Hillary Clinton sounds like a downer when she tells us about cost and states’ rights. Donald Trump knows there will never be a wall dividing the US and Mexico. But Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio tie themselves in knots regarding what to do about undocumented immigrants.

When it comes to governing priorities, I think the top 3 challenges for the next president are pretty clear—,… more

Hillary Clinton tells girl who fears deportation: ‘Let me do the worrying’

In her effort to appeal to Latino voters ahead of the Nevada primary, Hillary Clinton is pushing a new TV ad that tackles immigration — a major focus of her campaign.

Clinton’s ad, entitled “Brave,” features a campaign trail exchange she had with a 10-year-old who is scared her parents could be deported.

“My parents, they have a letter of deportation. I’m scared they are going to be deported,” the girl says before breaking into tears in Las Vegas on Feb. 14… more

Is Twitters Decision to Revamp its Timeline really that big of a deal? Eleventh Graders Respond.

It is Best Tweets First, according to two groups of 11th graders I recently spoke with.  These high school students simply do not want to read through a “bunch of boring stuff”. Even more so, they simply do not want to waste their time.  Time is a commodity that most students fear will be taken from them already.    Looking at the reverse-chronological tweet stream actually was the only thing they liked.  Keep it live, but add the Best Tweets First.
